External Hardware Modem Problem

Hello,

I recently purchased and installed a Cendyne 56K/V.92 external serial modem. It's replacing a 56kbs Creative internal software modem. Problem is, the upload speed of the Cendyne is much slower than the Creative was. I'm using SmartFTP to upload to my web site and the Cendyne is painfully slow, like 4 KB/s average. The Cendyne web site doesn't offer any modem support even though the manual recommends it (the site).

Is there some setting I need to initiate in my system to get this Cendyne up to speed?

The reason for the replacement is that I am doing heavy processing while I am uploading and I thought an external hardware modem would outperform a software modem under those circumstances.

Buddy

Have you tried messing in the modem properties? Also check the port properties and reset them to fastest. Are you connected via serial or parallel?

Have you checked your COM port settings?

4KB/s is about right. That's what I had on my old US Robotics 56K modem.
