Video memory history for A+

My course material lists the following memory types as having been or currently being used for video memory:

DRAM
VRAM
WRAM
SGRAM
MDRAM
SDRAM and
DDR-SDRAM

When I take the practice test and check "SDRAM" as a video memory type I am scored as incorrect.

What's right my study material or the test question results.

Thanks,

Bill

Could be both, I haven't seen such a question when I passed the test.

But then, some tests I've seen others practicing on had errors.

DRAM is an all inclusive term for memory, so I say the answer is SDRAM. Fast Page Mode DRAM is technically the answer, but it was simply known as SDRAM within the consumer and retail channels.

Thanks!

I guess the practice test is buggy.

Single Data Rate (SDR) SyncDRAM (aka SDRAM) has been widely used on graphics cards. So has everything else on the list.

Hi Robert,
Not sure if, by this, that you mean that FPM DRAM is known as 'SDRAM'. Synchronous DRAM (SDRAM) is different to Fast Page (FPM DRAM) DRAM memory. For main memory on a PC, FPM generally came in 72pin simm modules and was in use primarily around the 486 era. It is often referred to simply as 'DRAM' in respect to main or video memory but I have never heard of it being referred to as SDRAM. SDRAM technology hit the mainstream later (as pc main memory) and (SDR) came into use when pentium classics gained popularity.
Perhaps it was a typo Robert?
And to answer the thread starters question (without knowing the specifics of your test) - SDRAM is used extensively in graphics cards - whether it be SDR SDRAM (mostly referred to simply as 'SDRAM') or DDR SDRAM.
Regards,
Elad.
