Help! Computer Won't boot.

My Windows XP Pro computer all of the sudden won't boot. I fire it up and it goes through the normal screen that says Windows XP Pro and the little bar bellow it where the little pill shaped thing passes through while it loads. It goes away the screen goes black and it reboots.

I tried starting it in Safe made and the same thing happened. It came up with the screen where it says all the drivers its loading then it just reboots. Please help.

if it really did happen out of no where ( u didnt do somthin dumb like delete dll's, or system files, or see a virus deleting ur hard drive b4 it shut down)

Then it looks to me like a hardware problem. Did u build computer urself? I would check and make sure all connections are secure, and if u dont know much about computers you will have to take it to a tech shop for them to troubleshoot.

Worst case, ull have to re-install os, but if u have extra hard drive i would plug it up, see if it boots. That would tell u if it was hard drive or somthin else.

Just continue from there... called troubleshooting.

It is possible you may have a corrupted disk.

If you have a Windows XP CD disk, you can boot to it and choose the Recovery Console. When the Boot completes type
CHKDSK C: \R This will run a disk diagnostics &
repair any corrupted files.

If you are still not able to boot, you may be able to do a "Repair" install.

Links : if all else fails you can set XP back to factory settings...then reinstall every thing. one of my computers in the office wouldnt boot up right. i try`d about everything and no go. so i said well i can put it all back once its up and running its a lot of work but i had no choice at the time. boot the computer and press F10 till the screen comes up. then follow the intructions. if all else fails. this is the last option Unless Someone knows a better way. my 98`s and WindowsMe all 6 run great the XP im not very happy with it. but im still learning. whut i did wrong i never found out. but something went wrong and i couldnt save anything. Good Luck Link

Ok, not sure what I did but I managed to fix it. Just tapped F8 while it booted and at the screen where it gives you the options to go into safe mode, i chose the option for the last known good configuration. It worked. Thanks for all your help.

Links, if you have a HP, you may want to check your model # against the list at HP's website about failing HDD's in certain models. Fujitsu is replacing the drives on these computers because the HDD's they supplied have been failing. I posted the link somewhere around the forums....just search for "HP" and look for a post by me.
