C Drive Missing On Mirrored NT 4 System

I recently ran Windows update on a NT 4 server in order to install the latest security patches. That was a big mistake because now the system crashes with a memory dump. The reason why can be viewed here:

MS Article #317252: http://support.microsoft.com/default...#91;LN];317252

I now need to get access to the drive in order to over-write the corrupted files, but I'm not having any luck. I've tried the 2000 and XP recovery consoles, and DOS, 95 & 98 boot disks. None of them recognize drive C. I know it is there though because NT 4 gets all the way to the login screen before it crashes. I think that it may have something to do with the fact that the drive is mirrored, but I have no experience with mirrored drives. Also have had no luck searching the web for similar problems.

The drive is using a FAT partition and I believe it is a 2 GIG hard drive.

Any ideas on how I can get access to the drive? Thanks in advance for any help that you can give me.

Does it crash before you logon or after?

It crashes both ways; if I leave it and if I logon. However, I can only enter the logon information if I'm quick about it, and it never gets to the desktop.

I use W2K server. I used to mirror the system drive. One time the server crashed. So each time I logged on the server would try to rebuild the mirror set. It would always hang about a minute after I logged on. What I did in that minute of time was break the mirror set. After that the server would not hang anymore. Do you have enough time to break the mirror?

Meese, thanks for the quick replys and the help. I ended up installing both drives as slaves on another computer. I was then able to access the data to copy over the files I needed. The drives are now back in the NT server and every thing seems to be OK.
