Office Professional Edition 2003 Beta 2 (English)

Has any one tried Office Professional Edition 2003 Beta 2 (English)?

My uncle is a software developer and subscribes to microsofts software database and he can legaly give me access to his account so Im going to try out a few things. I know its a beta so I can expect a few problems but how does it compare to office 2000 (last office program I used)

It's probably exactly the same. I have Office 95, 97 and 2000. All of them are the same. The Word and Excel do the exact same thing, and are all compatible with each other.

You will notice no difference. Feel free to hold me to that

Hold onto your hat! There are alot of changes in Office 2003. Yes Excell and word and all that do the same things as they always have but there are still alot of changes. Some will hate it but IT departments will love it! If your interested download it and intall it. Make sure you back up things from your old version, ie: addressbook, since you will end up upgrading and reverting back isn't so easy. Personally I like the new direction of it. Do a little research on it there at M$ and see what the new features are and if you can give it a try. You'll either love it or hate it.

I am using Office 2003. for one...Outlook is rocking... I must say I dont agree that they are the same. I am working with the Beta 2 and I must say that o lot of excel features are now easyer to handel. But one thing would be, that office 2003 will youse XML to store Document. So if combined with exchange or sharepoint services absolut powerfull

Isn’t there a problem with using XML to store documents? Doesn’t it bog down ant virus programs with heavy loads of data to process and allow other data to slip by un scanned?

I’m downloading office 2003 now. I will see what comes of it. I liked 2000 and the little I have seen of XP I didn’t care for. Like most MS products their becoming to bloated with useless features. But hopefully resource management will improve with 2003.
