new case, bad psu?

Ok, my brother just bought an Antec SLK2600AMB case to replace his old dell case. plug everything in, plug the case to the mobo for power switch, and when i flip the master power (on psu) it makes a high pitched squeel! I dont know what this could be, im thinkin its the psu, but if it has somethin to do with uncompatability of the motherboard from the dell machine or somethin else... any input is GREATLY appreciated!!!

Dell computers are notorious for using proprietary power supplies. They changed the order of the wires for the motherboard connector, so they are not really ATX compliant.

You'll either have to rewire the Antec power supply connector to match the Dell, use the Dell power supply, or get a new (better) motherboard. Personally, I would use the Dell supply, and save the Antec power supply for when you upgrade your motherboard/CPU

BTW - The Antec PSU is fine, it's the Dell motherboard connections that are the problem. Dell wants you to buy Dell power supplies, not someone elses
