Windows XP and 160GB HDD?

I am installing Windows XP on a new PC for a friend. It has a 160GB SATA HDD during the initial setup where you can create partitions the OS only recognized about 130GB of the drive. If I go ahead and create 2 partitions when the OS is finished installing will I be able to see the rest of the 30GB that is missing and create and format another partition?

I've got some partition magic dos disks that I could possibly send you...I don't think this would be software piracy because it's just a dos program that doesn't require a cd key. If you want I could send them to you and you could format the hdd using that. Then you can go ahead and setup XP while choosing the option to leave the partition as it is. It should work.

you need to have SP1 installed to see the full 160gb. If your cd isn't SP1, you can use partition magic to enlarge it after you load and install SP1. but you do need SP1 to install a drive that big.

Also if your computer isn't seeing the full capacity of the hard drive, you could also use a separate compatible ATA controller card or install Intel Application Accelerator.
