First check the cables from the monitor to the computer, make sure the cat didn't chew into it, etc.
Did you add anything to your computer recently? If it is starved for power, it might affect the monitor or video card output. How much stuff is plugged into one wall outlet?
How about RFI (radio Frequency Interference). Are you laying your cell phone, Beeber, etc. on the monitor? Large speakers with large magnets next to the monitor can affect it.
Lastly, go to control panel/performance and maintenence/hardware tab/device manager/ and click on the display adapter, then right click on Properties. Should state that this device is working properly.
Next do the same for the monitor, same screen.
Both should have a troubleshoot tab, if it reports a problem.
If none of that works, may have to swap parts with known good ones, starting with the monitor, to isolate the problem.
