What you guys think about Firebird?

I was just wondering if any of you guys have given the firebird browser a chance. I just downloaded it and it is extremely fast (I'll have to test it on a 56k modem to see if this is entrirely true). Opera keeps being my favorite browser but I think I'll give this one a chance. So any opinios on this browser, do you like it?

I quite like it, its nice and fast, and they seem to have a LOT of the bugs worked out.
Can't speak for the 0.6 release though, I just do the CVS.

IMO its a great browser, small and fast but not totally perfect. I've been d/l 'ing some of the nightly builds for the past few months and checking out some of the optimized versions. Wich tend to have more bugs. But they also have some of the fixes for the current bugs. If you search through a few threads {probably about a million} on fav browsers you'll see a lot of different opinions on most all of the browsers out there right now.

It's great. I use Mozilla over it though because I use the mail client with it (which can be downloaded as a standalone like Firebird - it's called Thunderbird) ... it doesn't make sense to download both seperately though.

Do any of you guys have used it on 56k, if yes, is it fast on that type of connection, that is compared to mozilla and Opera?

I use 56k and have used all three and they are compareable on speeds. Its dependent on the settings you use and the types of sites you visit most often. But on any of the three your going to see noticeable differences over IE6 and added security.

edit: if you really want to speed any of the three up to top preformance then you need to turn of pictures and flash and then all your sites will look ugly but your surfing speeds are going to be as fast as you can get on a 56k

Thanks for reminding me of Firebird. I just downloaded it and I like it. Runs very fast on Slack9. I've been running Netscape since I loaded Slack on this machine but I haven't been very happy with it. Kinda slow. But, when I fired up Firebird, it rocks in comparison!

i have been using firebird as my default browser and it's nice (surfing speeds are about the same as IE or slower, browser load times are longer than IE) but as mentioned earlier, many bugs.
