Ok the puter is a win98 box (not sure of all the other details) but when it boots up a window opens after the opsystem is running saying that program ZZ has stopped running.. It looks to be a dos type program because behind the error message box is a black window with ZZ writen in the blue title bar. I have done a Google but its too technical for me I am also going to go look on Dell I believe the puter is a dell..

any suggestions or just point me in the direction of what the ZZ program is supposed to do.

txs

Is anything ZZ listed in msconfig? Where is this technical page you have mentioned. Maybe someone here can make sence of it for you.

Cheers!

If it’s a Dos prompt more then likely it’s in your “AutoExec.bat” or “Config.sys”, just open them with notepad & see if you see it there. And if you see it & want to remove it just cut out that line of text.

Do a file search for zz and see what you find. If you get results, right click on a resulting found file and see if you get any kind of info about what program it may be. If multiple files are found, see if there is any kind of common denominator within the properties that may lead you towards finding out what program or service is creating this error.

Cheers!

If you do find out what this program or service is, and you deam it is unneccessary, go for what CatScam recommended.

The problem may be deeper than just a boot up irratation.

Cheers!
