question on settings for nforce2

ok this is what my system will be once I get what I want:

Asus A7N8X Deluxe pcb 2.0
XP 2600+ 333mhz
(2) 512mb pc3200
GF4 Ti4600
120gb SATA hdd
Enermax 431w p/s

So with these components, what will I need to change/setup in the BIOS for this to run optimal? (I have no idea on what to set for the multiplier, voltage, etc. if I should overclock) Thanks for your help.

If it doesn't do so automatically, just set the FSB to 166 (166x2=333). Make sure you have 8x enabled for the video card, multiplier and voltage should take care of themselves. I have no idea about overclocking that chip, so someone else w/ some exp will surely come along.

Jmebonner summed it up pretty much. Disable one of the lan cards 3 com or the Nvidia your pick. If you have your own soundcard and whatnot you need to disable that in the bios also.

and one other thing is, that gets annoying fast is the speech on boot up. The manual is very easy to read and breaks everything down on what you need to do.

i have the same set up as you

I disabled the Nvidia one in my dad's comptuer in windws. Both devices are installed with their respective drivers. But if your not using one of them, just disable one of them.

So, so true, GZ3!

It's nice to have when you overclock too much, beats searching all over for those forgotten beep codes.

EDIT: Spelling

I have

Asus A7N8X Deluxe pcb 2.0
AMD Athlon XP 1900+
PNY GeForce ti 4200 128 megs
3 ide drives
and everything configured right.

but I was wondering if I can install my

AMD Opteron 242(Server) 1600MHz CPU... just read it somewhere it's Socket A compatible. I know it's Socket 970... but this article states http://www.neoseeker.com/Hardware/Pr...md_opteron242/ it's Socket A compatibility not sure coz there's no enough details I've found around the net. Please be advised.
