pioneer dvd-r 104 firmwire

ok so i updated the firmwire 1.40 the reson was cause i had problems burning dvd and cds. then when i try to downgrade cause it was at 1.20 so i decided to go to 1.30 and no when i try to go back to the latest one witch is 1.40 it doesn't want to upgarde any more and i also notice that it updates 2 drives that r name the same. i allready went to divice maneger and delite my drive then reinstalled it and still same thing i can;t upgrade or down grade. theis r the softwares i have installed i don't know if one of them cahanges somesettings that will make the other software not function:
dvd xcopy express
primo dvd
nero 6.0.011
please help i had to format my whole hd cause i though it was some setting that i had wrong but nope. also when u update the firmwire what does it update i mean if i bought another dvdr will i have the same trouble cause i had the old one previous installed.
everything was working fine but suddenly it just started messing up., is there a firm wire removered ? thanks for ur help guys
