Last install was over a year ago, and I am running on Win98, Win98 seems to run much better than WinXp on my Laptop...

I have never ran into such a situation??!!
I will try to see if I need any patches from MS right now Thanks!!!

A year is quite ancient for a windows install.

I'm sure theres prolly a few things u could do to speed it up a little.. but I think its well worth the time and effort to do a full clean install. Then only reinstall the stuff as you need it. Makes the system run ALOT faster.

I do it about every 3-4 months to keep my system running up to speed.

you could also get windows 2000 professional. works great on my computers, and isn't as bloated as xp.

Have you tried to repair I.E.?

http://beemerworld.com/tips/ie5repair.htm

or how about an easy speedup tweak for I.E.?

http://beemerworld.com/tips/browserspeed.htm

How about resource wasters?

http://beemerworld.com/tips/resourcewasters.htm

How about some cable modem tweaks?

Dump your Temp, Temporary Internet Files, Cookies, and History folders.

Use Spybot Search & Destroy for spyware detection.

If all this fails, try another NIC.

Cheers!
