need help please win xp home

i want to format my drive but i cant figure out how when i insert the startup disk it saids to remove my disk from the drive (a) so how can i start it up . please help i really need to format .. thank you

The startup disc? What disc are you referring to? You should just be able to boot up with your Win XP CD in the CD-ROM then follow along with the partition/formatting procedures. There shouldn't be any floppy disks involved here...well, there could be but there doesn't need to be.

You probably have a bad startup disk, goto www.bootdisk.com and download a windows98 startup disk to format.

**Although, when you start the install of WindowsXPHome from a cd boot it will give you the option to format your hard drive.
