Audigy 2 Platinum Problems

I'm a n00b, so here goes........

I just purchased an Audigy 2 Platinum today and installed it this morning. Whenever I run any program that was included with the card (Cubase, Hitman), after about 5 minutes, my whole computer will just lock up, forcing me to just turn the power off to reboot. Anyone know what could be doing this? Does the card put out a lot of heat? My case is kind of small, so if heat would be a factor, would that even be making my computer crash?
Thanks for any help.

Maybe a couple more details on your system will help.

hmm it is possible that it is heat, but i dont think it is
try going to HP's site and getting all the latest patches and drivers for your system. 533 Mhz isnt all that great either to be running these...
