Most User-Friendly Mobo

Which brand of motherboards do you think is the most user-friendly? If someone were to put together a computer for the first time, which brand would he have the least trouble with? Explanations as to why would be awesome! This goes for both AMD and Intel.

I bought the ABIT IS7. Aside from the options available in the BIOS, I was impressed with the logical placement of the drive connectors and power connectors. There was also a generous gap between the AGP slot and the closest PCI slot. Gotta love that space

I have had really good luck and ease with Epox mobos, built a system with the 8kha+ and 8RDA+

the boards are very well spaced out, and you basically plug it in and it goes! and if u are more of an advanced user the bios has plenty of stuff for ya!

I totally agree with The Terk regarding EPoX. MY favorite brand. There are also some EPoX-specific user support sites that are very good if you do run into problems. Aside from EPoX, my next favorite (from ease of build standpoint) boards would be Asus and Abit.

I should answer my own poll. My vote goes to Abit. I've worked with motherboards where the AGP slot covers some DIMM slots and it was a hassle removing the video card to upgrade memory, and my IS7, like dr_roberts49 said, has ample room between the AGP slot and DIMM slots. Unfortunately, I have only worked with Abit, ECS, and whatever boards HP and Compaq uses, so I don't have much to compare.

The MSI is good. The web site has automatic driver installation for the boards and will run updates. If you do not want to mess with updating the bios it will do that for you also. Very easy IMHO.

Bonus is that I have never had a problem with a MSI.

my first build was on a gigabyte 7dxe

not a spectacular board and OC capabilities are not so hot, but rock solid and easy to install. they have clear installation guides with lots of drawings and piccies also
quite cheap as well

My respect for ABIT went up another 10 points, when I upgraded my BIOS today. Rather than repeat myself, please see my posting in this same forum "High Praise for ABIT's BIOS Program".

I've been using Gigabyte mobos for quite some time and I haven't found a flaw in any of them!!
They are very stable boards and offer a great performance also (compared to other motherboards with the same features and chipset, etc.).
A great brand for newbies building their first system.!
