Kids XP Pro Boot-up Problem

When I turn on the PC, I get a message that reads " Reboot and select proper boot device or insert boot media in selected boot device". I then reboot using control/alt/delete and the Intel P4 logo comes up. After 30 seconds the logo goes away and the screen is blank except for the flashing cursor. then the XP logo showing the system is booting up appears and the system boots up.

When I used to turn on the PC, it went straight to the XP logo.

Any suggestions on how to get rid of this awkward boot up proceedure.

I'm running XP Pro, intel mobo, 2.4ghz etc...

make sure there is no disk in the floppy or cd drives. now reboot and enter the bios. in the standard or advanced settings section put your first boot device as hdd0 or ide0 (unless you boot from a scsi drive). save settings and exit

Tried what you said. I made sure that the HD is my first boot device and there are no floppies or CD's in the PC. Still doesn't work the way it used to.

Anyone else have a suggestion?

Have you tried using the "Last Known Good Configuration" startup? Hold F8 during boot, then select it. I don't want to assume you've tried this yet...

BTW, Welcome to TechIMO!!!
