Trouble entering text in search engine

Hi
My friend has a laptop with WinME. She cannot enter text in search engine windows. She can enter text in the IE address toolbar.I have seen this before but I can't find the fix in the MS Knowledge base.
Any ideas? Thanks in advance.

Really a long shot here but try deleting IE history and temp IE files, close browser, reopen and see if the problem is resolved.
