Systems ASUS A7N8X DLXE RAM ISSUE

Hello, I just recently purchased a ASUS A7N8X DELUXE motherboard, I have a AMD 2700+ and two sticks of PC3200 512 RAM, When I installed the mobo it only detected a XP 2100 so i raised the settings in the bios to make it 2700 , the guy at the computer store told me my ram wasnt compatible to run at 400 or w/e so hhe changed some bios setting for them to run at a lower speed... by accident i changed the RAM setting, so as usual i rebooted after saving the bios changes and to my suprise the motherboard didnt boot? My first thought was that i fried my processor from the bios change... but then i plugged in my speakers and it told me System Memory Check failed... hmm I reset the CMOS etc still the same thing? Any ideas? t here must be a way to get in my bios

Have you cleared your CMOS yet to reset the BIOS back to factory defaults?

switch off at the back of the box and remove the battery from the board for 30secs should reset the BIOS defaults.

Don't ever do that ... it's not necessary. There's a jumper on the board right next to the battery that you move over for 10 seconds (make sure the system is unplugged) and move it back.. THAT will clear the CMOS.

Settings -

CPU External Frequency - 166mhz
CPU Frequency Multiple Setting - Auto (one below it should be 13x I belive)
System Performance - Optimal (try this first, if it works up it to aggressive, and then User Defined if you know what you're doing)
Memory Frequency - 100%

What about when your going away for a couple of weeks and your house will be empty?

It's the only way I could reset the BIOS in my A7N8X Dlx when I O\Ced it too far! The Jumper didn't work for me either!

Hey, the CMOS/BIOS reset didnt work still says the error and doesnt boot... i have a friend with a different kind of DDR ram , lower from the PC3200.. you think i cud borrow a stick of his.. and if its compatible with the asus.. itll boot up and i can go into the BIOS and change that setting for my OWN ram and then give his ram back and put both my PC3200's back in?
