Systems help burning cd's

i am having difficulty burning cd. Burn Proof 16x10x40x trying to burn data from Microsoft works to cd it says cd not right kind i've tried with cd-rw and reg cd i can wite to floppy but laptop doesn't have floppy port. any suggestions? i can burn to same cd's with laptop. is it burner or settings?

are you trying to burn from windows or a program such as roxio or nero?

Is it a disc with something on it already? Like burned with nero and youre trying to add more on it from windows? If so it won't work that way.

then i think you have to pop in a blank cd-rw (i think it HAS to be rewritable) and format it for windows writing. a popup box should come up and ask you what action to take. if not then my computer, right click on cd writer, properties, autoplay, select blank cd from the dropdown box and open writable cd folder. also you should check the recording tab to make sure it is enabled for that drive.

these were new cd's one had some data that i wanted to upgrade as the data will change daily

easier to use packet writing or multisession from a proper burning proggie, imo. u make less coasters.

did all that, message comes up that says: The disk in the drive is not a writable CD or is full. (neither of which is true)

but is it a FRESH BLANK because windows needs to format the disk for its packet writing system i think.

it will never be a fresh blank but once. i want to be able to update data on a daily basis. it will take 365 disc/year if that is the case. on floppies u can add data daily. maybe i need a new cd writing program or new hardware. thanx for your input
