Systems Download problem please help!

Almost every time I try to download a large file (usually over 100 MB), about halfway through an error message will pop up saying it can't finish the download because the connection with the server was reset. PLEASE HELP!!

Does your isp have a cap on a session? Use a download manager that will allow you to resume. Trouble is that the download site also have to support it too.

Yes, a download manager is the only way to go. True there are a few sites that
give them problems, but I’d say they work on about 98% of all sites. The one I
like best is flashget, not only will it let you resume but also splits your download
in to several streams that can considerably speed up the download. But there are
many others to pick from.

Thank you!
And does it matter how many parts you split the file into? Is it the more the faster or something?

up to a point, yes. if you're using something like getright, then watch your total download speed, if you use slower sources it will fall. try to use enough fast sources that your connection speed is just about matched. and mozilla has a built in dl manager

The split downloading is for sites that cap bandwith per connection. Eg. 10kb/connection. Splitting the download into segments allows you to bypass that limit.
It will not help you with sites that don't cap bandwith though.
