Kids Harmon Kardon Champagne HK695 speakers

Has anyone heard this 3-piece system with the champagne glass satellites? Any comments on sound quality?

Thank you.

I personally haven't heard these speakers, but a friend of mine got the HK695 along with a Dell system and wasn't really happy with them. He complained that they were way too low power and distorted if you tried to get any juice out of them; he also mentioned that they accentuated upper midrange too much. I'm not a fan of any speakers that push aesthetic appeal over performance, and based on my friends' experiences the HK695 definitely falls into this category.

The other thing is that the satellites break the cardinal rule of frequency reproduction by having identical size drivers, which is at best pointless. That should automatically be a red flag because it means you won't be getting optimal sound reproduction.

Of course I guess these speakers are only around $50 and nothing will beat trying them out for yourself. Maybe you can ask around and see if a store has them on display.

They're ok if you don't want anything heart thumping or for gaming experience. Only 40watts. Not to bad a quality of sound but I figure they are more for novelty. Sold at Future Shop here in Canada. I'm going to buy my mother a set because of the fancy looks.

Cheers!

they are ok - they look better than they sound.

if u dont want accurate audio reproduction, but want tweeters that TRY to act as full range drivers and desire a subwoofer that plays more midrange than subfrequency audio - then go ahead.

if u want something more robust - look into logitech 560, 680 - or klipsch 2.1, 4.1, 5.1.

What's your budget? You'd be much happier with a PM2.1.

they do look good, 28w sub tells it right there.
I don't game but do concider myself an audiophile, most times I'll take clearity over power, but a sub should be more powerful.

that 28 is most likely peak, not what it puts out regularly.
