Ports and connectors - Baah!

I'm reading this stuff and trying to memorize this crap when it occurs to me that, while I may "memorize" this stuff, if I ever hold one in my hand I wouldn't know what the hell it was if my life depended on it. We're talking about 30 or so ports and connectors here.

Is there any place that sells these as a study package so that I can physically hold them in my hand and become intimate with them? (so to speak )

Bill

I'm confused, what type of ports are you referring to?

Send a message via Yahoo to paul9
in the u.k. you could try maplins or r.s. components, i don't think they would do a study pack, but if you look through their catalogues, you should find just about any connectors or sockets fairly cheaply.

Go to your local computer supply or electronic supply store. They would have pretty much all of those. It could get expensive to buy all those though.

Oh, got you now.
Head down to your local computer show. I always see 3 or 4 table of cords, connectors, brackets, etc. Make up a list of what you want to see as most of these components are OEM bulk (at least around here) and are in no bag or in plastic clear bag. Some of what your looking for can be bought fairly cheap, if you want to go that route. It might be worth the $5.00 admission to get in.
Besides, the comp shows are kinda cool to go to.
Just leave the CC at home.

Take a picture of an old computer from the rear...that will cover most of the ports.

Here are some connectors.

Customer drawings are also available, along with cable types.
