Kids VIA P4PB CMOS error Help!!

Please help! My newly bought VIA P4PB-400 w/ 2.4 Ghz Pentium 4 just starts up, lists my CD and Hard drive, then says:
"CMOS checksum error, defaults loaded. Warning! CPU has been changed or CPU ratio changed fail. Please re-enter CPU settings in CMOS setup and remember to save before quit!"

Then, it says press DEL to enter setup or F1 to continue, but pressing either of these does nothing! I'm stuck here - I've rebooted my machine tons of times and just gets stuck there.

I'm running -
VIA P4PB-400
2.4 Ghz P4 w/ stock cooler
ATI Radeon 9600
OEM 52x CD-ROM
Maxtor 60 GB HDD
256 MB PC2700 Corsair Micro RAM
in an Antec LANBOY case
Help! This is my 1st computer and I'm stuck!

checksum error means you changed hardware and didn't tell the CMOS. Defaults loaded means it went back to the SLOOOOWEST safe settings.

try F! and give it a minit. Might boot slow.

If that doesn't work,, read the manual about the little cmos jumper. It clears the data, and then the BIOS re-detects all the hardware and saves it to the CMOS.

Be sure to uplug that sucker, and give it a couple of minutes for the capacitors to discharge, then short the jumpers and put it back like the manual says.
