Anyone know this IP address?

I blocked all internet access with ZA and got a message saying services and controller was trying to access:

68.6.16.25

Went to another computer and typed it in the browser and got "page can't be displayed."

Where and what is this?

Bill

It's a private IP from Cox Cable. Someone's home cable IP.

http://www.dnsstuff.com/tools/whois.ch?ip=!NET-68-6-0-0-1&server=whois.arin.net

It looks like you might have to swipe and copy the address.

Bill... I believe that is your Cox DNS server

go to a command prompt and type

ipconfig /all

see if its in there

I believe its just trying to make sure your IP is registered with DNS.

Have cox on the line and just got kicked up to tier 2. First guy says he has no idea why my computer would be communicating with cox without my knowledge.

We'll see.

Have you been to "Shields Up" to check the status of your ports?

All my ports are closed except 139 which refuses to respond to communications. Tier 2 said not to worry it's an internal system verification of service with Cox and no other info is going anywhere else.

Can't be too careful these days.

Gaming

Whoa. You DO NOT want port 139 open. That's a file sharing port and should be closed.

Try running Active Ports. It's free and will tell you what program is using which port to communicate with what machine. Very handy to have.
