Safely Removing old heatsink/fan

Hi,

I have a Volcano 7 Heatsink fan on my processor now and i want to remove it and replace with my new zalman heatsinkfan. I was wondering if there is any specific way to safely remove my old heatsink. I feel like the ways I'm trying now are too forceful.

Thanks

Don't be forceful...it's pretty simple actually

Use a flathead screwdriver on the one side of the clip to push it down and out so it comes unlatched, then just lift the heatsink off. Be sure not to slide the HS around over the core, or push down on it when you're trying to get it unlatched.
