Flashed BIOS / Killed Windows (not system)

I recently updated my BIOS, for my Shuttle AV49N, running Windows 2000 SP2, and it refused to let me in! What gives! It would get to the black and white "loading" screen but the bar would just stop filling and the system would lock. So... I reverted back to my older BIOS and now I'm back in action. Anyone know why this would happen? I really don't want to have to reinstall Windows all over again just because I want to update my BIOS and fix some compatability issues.

It might have enabled or disabled ACPI ... using the setting opposite what you had before...that would cause windows to not boot.

This is a good example of why to record your settings before flashing.

Also, be sure to "Restore defaults" after flashing.

Did you clear the bios after the flash?...have you tried setting the bios to the 'setup or failsafe defaults'?.. have you tried to get the bios to redetect the hard drive?..
