which PSU unit should I get

I thought I'd get more feedback here than motherboards section.

Colorcases messed up my order and didn't ship the Raidmax 500w due to not tellimg me they had it. I didn't check here first cause I found out about this place afterwards.

Which case should I get their ColorCase 550w (don't think it's generic but not sure who makes it) or Raidmax 400w PSU.

Thanks.

Which is cheaper? I'd go with the raidmax as its a name I've heard. I've no experience with colorcase stuff, so I probably wouldn't go with that. Be suspicious about the Colorcase one if its cheaper than the RAIDmax one.

if your on a budget , even if your not it is a really good power supply , this Achieve 500w power supply is a winner . it is all i order now for my builds. they are great . don't let the cheap price fool ya . do a search for power supplys here and you will see i been talking about them for a while and a small following have got them and agreed with me.

and no i have nothing to do with the web site or make any money off them . they are just cheap and work really well .

I would rather have a quality 300W power supply from Antec, Enermax, Fortron or Sparkle than one of those highly questionable "500W" cheap PSUs. IMO, there's no way that a decent 500W PSU could be made at that price point. If it were possible, Antec would want to compete, dontcha think?

kinda like how hyundai competes with honda right ?

gimme a break i got a antec tru550 sitting in a box by my feet cause it went out 6 months after i bought it. i got it so i wouldn't have to deal with a bad ps . damn thing cost me over a bill!!!! i replaced it with the achieve . i rma'd the antec and the new one is sitting .

because something doesn't cost alot doesn't mean it isn't good . do you really think antec spend all that much to make there supplies ??? if you do your kidding yourself ... your paying for the name .

before you say something isn't good , use it first ... then you can make that claim .

yes I agree with your point, but at other places that same PSU is as much as $79.99, would it be more applealing to you if that were the price?

Omardeth is a tried and good source, what I have read at many sites concludes this PSU is middle of the pack unit.
I did some research, I did not jump on it because of price alone.

Well, it seems to me that a mid-point unit would be a more satisfactory compromise. I wouldn't feel comfy with any $20 PSU, much less a 500W jobbie.

http://www.newegg.com/app/viewproduc...82E16817104979

That unit is silent and actually cranks out about 380W.
