xp wireless problem

I'm running a linksys wireless usb adapter. The one with the little antenna that flips up and is about the size of a pack of cigs. The problem is that there is no wireless networking tab on the network propertys page. I have tried just using the software that comes with the adapter with no avail. It does seem to be getting an IP address (192.168.1.24) that I can ping along with a sub mask and gateway that I cannot ping. Anyone else ever see this issue? I;m concerned with the fact that there is no wireless networking tab.

do you have the latest drivers installed from the site?

the 192.168.1.24 is an indication that you are getting an ip address from whatever accesspoint/router you are using?

what is the wireless device you are connecting too?

do you have interenet at all?

I have internet, but it's not coming through. I'm connecting to a WAP11. Also I noticed that when I removed a wireless card in another XP system, the wireless networking tab went away. This leads me to believe that there is some sort of problem with the wireless adapter.

If you can ping the router from your PC your connection from the XP side is ok. From what I understand, you can't connect to the Internet.

That indicates that the wireless router is not connected to the Internet properly. Make sure your RJ45 cable connected to the Internet is ok. You may need configure your router. Usually it is through your browser. Try 192.168.1.0 in your browser. Check your manual.
