The best would be a P4 3.2 (I think it's in mobile version already). 1GB or 2GB of RAM, 60+GB hard drive, 15.4" or 17" screen, wireless connection, ethernet connection.... We could list specs all day, basically just look at the best there is in desktop and then check all the manufacturer websites for similar config in a laptop.

The fastest processor put in a laptop is the 3.2GHZ HT P4 CPU with an 800 FSB.
The fastest RAM put in a laptop is dual channel 400 DDR.
The fastest hard drive setup in a laptop I'm aware of is the 60GB 7200rpm hard drives in a hardware RAID 0 configuration.
The fastest mobile video card put in a laptop is the ATI 9600 PRO.
The fastest transfer protocols would be USB2.0, 10/100/1000 LAN, and 802.11g wireless internet.
I'm not sure about the fastest media drives, I believe the fastest DVD burner is a 2X, the fastest CD Burner is a 24X, fastest DVD player is an 8X, and the fastest CD reader is a 24X.
There are a few different companies out there designing laptops with some of the above specs and Clevo (Sager 8890, Prostar 8814, Hypersonic PC Aviator GX8, VoodooPC M600) have basically all the above specs in their system in an attempt to pump out a system with the highest specs technology has. A lot of it is over kill for the average user and the system is a heavy 12+ lbs with 1 Hour 45 Min DVD playback battery life. |

I'm telling you, go mainstream. Either Dell or Toshiba. I always like the dells cause their higher end models dont have video cards soldered to the board, meaning that you can upgrade the video card! The older I8200 can be hot swaped with the geforce2 go, geforce4 440 go, quadro4 500go, guadro4 700 gogl, and the ati M9000. No other laptop is like that. The newer inspiron 8500 has a removable vidoe card as well. Dell however makes it kinda hard to get to there parts dep. though. So getting the upgrade cards can be tricky but it can be gone. You basicaly just got to tell the tech in the parts dep. to shove it and send you the card. The cpu is also upgradable.
Heres proof: http://forums.us.dell.com/supportfor...cending&page=1
Let me know if that link dont work..
