The charges were not bad at all. Came in under $400. Basically, I swapped out my old board and Pentium III (which I gave to my 17 year-old son) and put in the new mobo and cpu. I reformatted my primary drive and reinstalled Windows (I have some knowledge to pass on about a problem I had here. That will be in another post) and my main apps. All my data resides on my 2nd drive, so I was up and running PDQ. The only other upgrade was 2 sticks of Corsair DDR3200 (2 x 256) running in dual mode. I have a GeForce FX 5200 and Santa Cruz soundcard.
This was my first upgrade in early 3 years, but I've done a lot of other builds for my kids and friends. Still, I was pleasently surprised when everything clicked when I put it all together. Like I said, the hardest part was sitting out the thunderstorms. I did have one problem installing the OS, and I promise to share it, because it's possible I can spare someone else the trouble. I was just lucky, and spotted it right away.
I do have some sound issue and also how my IRQs are currently assigned, but I'll be playing around with that this weekend, and I won't push my luck with the settings

I'll also post some pics, once I get back on DSL. I recently switched from Verizon to MCI, which offered a better package. Unfortunately, there's a 10 day lag in the service. The big bummer with that, besides dropping back to dial-up, is the lack of sharing the internet through our home network. Just a few more days in the stoneage. It's harder on my kids.
As to the day off, I have nearly 2 weeks of vacation time, and just made it a vacation day. No worries
