Extracting WIN2K INF files using -a -p switches/ installing chipset drivers

Hi all,

I'm having a frustrating time getting the chipset drivers installed in myDell PowerEdge 400SC (2.8 P4, 800 fsb, 1024 mb pc2700, WIN2K PRO).

The setup isn't working because the inf files haven't yet been extracted. To do this, you need to use "setup -a -p switches", which I have no idea how to do.

Do I need to boot into NT's equivilant of dos? How and where do I add the -a switch????????????????????

Maybe this will help explain my problem (from another board):

Q.) When installing W2K I am unable to include the chipset drivers as part of the install process in the same way I do the network card drivers or even video card drivers, i.e. $oem$\$1\Drivers. This is because the chipset drivers do not use *.INF files and instead use *.EXE and *.CAT.

Does anyone have any idea of how I could get round this???

A.) The readme that comes with the chipset driver explains how to extract the INF install portion out. I beliieve you have to use the setup -a -p switches.

you could do start->run->cmd , then you'd get to a command window. Go to the directory holding the setup.exe that holds the drivers, then do the "setup -a -p".

Have you tried just running the setup program?
