Geforce 4600 Ti or Geforce Fx 5200

What is the difference between the 2? The FX 5200 looks like a better card and its cheaper than the 4600? Why is the 4600 Ti more money if its a worse card? What else is a good Geforce card??

In a nutshell, the FX 5200 is the next generation GeForce4 MX 440. It's on the low edge of the nVidia FX series video cards. Whereas the Ti4600 is the top of the Geforce 4 cards.

by no means is the FX5200 better than the TI4600:

linkage ->http://www.tomshardware.com/graphic/...charts-05.html

the FX5200 is comparable to the radeon 9000, although that the FX is not listed on this site, it cannot touch the 4600

you're just being captured by the advertising machine, they attempt to get you to purchase a card that is inferior because it has a higher model number, which in turn helps them how? i don't know but,

research your parts and you can only come out on top.

Thanks fellas! I am getting a computer from a friend with the 4600 in it already, I just wanted to make sure it was good. I am a bit disapointed that it doesnt have DX9 support though. But I think it'll still run those games.

Hi Eryk,
if you are talking directx 8.1 only, it is equivalent to a 9600pro or a 5600 ultra. However, for directx 9 based programs/games or if you are into significant anisotropic filtering or anti-aliasing then the 9600 pro and the 5600 ultra are more robust.
Regards,
Elad.

The only problem with the TI graphics card is that they don't fully support DX9, but performance wise, they are fantastic cards.

Where on earth have you seen benches that put the Ti4200 next to the FX5600 Ultra???

From what I've seen, the 5600 isn't far ahead of the 4600 when no FSAA & Aniso filters are used. But once you kick those filters into high gear, the 5600 takes a medium leap ahead of the 4600.

Just got hold of a Creative Labs TI 4600, and I tried before the FX 5200.

The Ti outperformed the FX quite a long way.
