K7S5A Pro
can anyone help me please?
i have an ECS K7S5A Pro mainboard and an AMD Athlon XP 2600 266 FSB
the bios is only recognising the cpu as an 1800+
is there anyone who can tell me what is wrong and the steps to take to rectify this problem.
thanks

Is it jumperless?? Have you checked the manual to see if you need to tell the board what it is?? (assuming you have manual).

I had the same problem so I called the people that I bought the chip from.
What you have to do is go into the BIOS and find the CPU Frequency and change it form 100 to 133
Hopefully will work fine after that

you may need a bios flash from the manufacturer, it probably only knows to recognize a 2200+ at the moment, with a flash, you should gain compatibility for a 2400+ and 2600+

Update BIOS.
Make sure your RAM and PSU are up to the task of serving a 2600.
Set CPU/RAM speed to 133/133.
Enjoy.
