Video problems

Just had to switch out a 5900 with a 9800 pro due to system instability. The 9800 is running better, but im still not out of the woods yet.

Whenever I try to exit out of games, such as bf 1942, the system resets, sometimes during gameplay. Another example, when I quit out of vietcong, I get back into windows but I notice that vietcong.exe process is still running in the process window. When I try to restart windows, the system takes forever.

Im using the latest cat. drivers, dx. etc.etc.etc. I used a utility called driver cleaner before I installed the ati card. Wonder if you guys heard of this problem, I had similar instability problems with the 5900.

System specs
MSI k7n2 mobo
athlon 2200
1 gig ddr ram
xstacy 9800 pro 128
turbolink 420W psu

Which version of Windows are you running? Always helps to know that.

Maybe check around to see if there's any hardware incompatibilities between the K7N2 and ATi cards. Never know with these things.

Welcome to TIMO.

What video card did you have before the 9500? Sounds like that’s
when all your problems started. When I moved from a Geforce to
my 9600 pro, I had similar crashes & I also used a driver cleaner before
the switch. I don’t know if them cleaners are all that reliable. But after
doing a fresh windows install the card is running great now.
