do I need to disable SATA header on teh mobo?

Do I need to disable the SATA header on the motherboard. I plan on using IDE0 slot for the use of my hard drive and I don't have plans to use the SATA yet. I'm buliding the computer tomorrow so I don't know if I should disable it or not if I am not using it.

Oh I have the A7N8x deluxe motherboard.

There is a jumper at the bottom of the motherboad next to a chip that is the serial ata controller.

I haven't disabled mine and its caused no conflicts

It speeds up start up. I did mine when it was on(don't do that I am a pro stupid squrill).

I disabled mine just because I'm picky and I don't like the little yellow ? in the device manager

BTW if you're not going to use it DO NOT install drivers in Windows, it's been known to cause problems.

Homer Simpson: Marge I disabled the serialATA on this big board thing a ma gig and I installed everything from this c.o.m.p.a.c.t d.i.s.c and now this stupid box is messed up?

If not disabled I think all it will do is run the SATA check at startup.
