can't open attachments

hey guys,

i kinda looked to see if this has been talked about yet, but didn't see anything. I have a computer running windows xp, and i use outlook express for email. anyways, when i get an attachment, i try to open it, but i can't do it, becuase it is shaded grey and it won't let you open it. Does anyone have any ideas?

Thanks for any help
Kruseman

hehe...this one's been covered plenty...we all get snagged with this one.

Evidenlty the default for OE6 is to disallow attachments to be opened.

In outlook express go to "tools/options/security..then uncheck 'do not allow attachments to be saved or opened that could potentially be a virus'

If the whole line 'do not allow attachments blah blah' is ITSELF greyed out..then you have to do a little registry edit which isnt too hard.

If you need to do that....search for posts by "John Prophet" in the "applications and operating systems" forum and you will find a thread covering it.

Good Luck, JP

thanks jp, I looked at that, but i never saw this (which i got from your post) "oe has removed access to this attachment blah blah" I still tried it though, but I didn't exit and open back up so it didn't work, so i just figured it was something different. Thanks for the quick reply though. I really appreciate it.
