GTK2 Desktop Themes

Anybody know a good site for Gnome2 themes? I found some on Freshmeat, but most of them won't install.

Roger. Been there. Snagged the Longhorn Metacity theme and the crystal icon set. Thanks.

What distro and what version of Gnome2 are you running?

Oh, sorry. Unfortunately Ximian kinda goes their own way when it comes to the Gnome desktop. I'm not really sure if any of the themes out there will work with it without some tinkering.

If you're really into trying out Gnome my favorite place to go is here:

http://people.ecsc.co.uk/~matt/repository.html

and just apt in all the packages I need. Nyquist has more cool stuff available in one place than just about all other places in Linux-dom.

I really doubt you'll be able to install anything from there with Ximian installed though. The last time I looked into Ximian there were just too many conflicting packages to mix and match from other sources.

Sorry I couldn't be of more help.

Hey, it was more help than I asked for, so it's all good.

I got a few of the themes from freshmeat and art.gnome to work. Gonna check out that site in a minute.

I would like to throw Fluxbox on here, but I like Ximian's features.

Thanks again.

Fluxbox is nice and I won't knock it but I also highly recommend you head to:

www.xfce.org

And try out XFCE4. I haven't used it in a month or so (the first beta) but it was really impressive. Again, I'm not too sure how well it will work with Ximian installed on your box though since XFCE 4 is heavily dependant on GTK2 packages.

Since you mentioned you liked Ximian's features I will repeat that you really should keep out Nyquist's page some time. Gnome 2.4 is pretty awesome. Most folks prefer it over Ximian and everyone prefers it over the stock version of Gnome that comes with RH9 (though that's not RH's fault, Gnome2 just wasn't as far along as it is currently).

I will, in fact, look into that. Thanks, Scott.
