Startbar has disappeared
My bosses computer is all messed up, his startbar has disappeared.
I scaned for viruses via housecall, found 10 pr0n viruses but that didn't clear things up..
He's using winxp home

This sounds kinda dumb, but try moving the mouse down there and see if you get a resize cursor. When my Explorer crashed (WinXP here too), it hid the taskbar.

In 98, you can relocate the startbar to each side and the top of the screen.... is it somewhere else besides the bottom? I know that sounds dumb, but some folks don;t know that it can be moved and resized.

It looks like he had a virus that started up "winupdate.exe" in the windows directory..
I was messing around and end task on winupdate.exe and deleted it out of the registry and that is what caused it

what is exactly a pron virus? (yes i know pron, means porn. But you cant get a virus from a mpeg or avi unless he downloaded from somewhere hotgirlsmakelove.exe)
make sure you do another scan with http://housecall.trendmicro.com/
just to make sure all is fine. Run windows update and slap him on the wrist
