Kids Norton NOT cooperating

Hi there,
please be patient as I am a newbie;
I have this friend that can NOT get her Norton AntiVirus working properly. Her operating system is WinMe and when she tries to get on, a message pops up;
" Norton lock file initialization drive C "
What to do??...any experts out there that could help us solve this??
Thanx for any help...
Cheetah

I've had Norton not cooperate with me before. That was solved by a uninstall and then a reinstall.

edit: Oh, Welcome to TIMO!

Uninstall and clean the registry as well. I had a problem where NAV would repeatedly download the same definition update. I would reboot and it would try reinstalling the same def again. I tried uninstalling and that didn't work either. Cleaning the registry and deleting NAV associated files did though..

1. Delete all files asociated with NAV... Also look in program files folder for common files shared.

2. Open regedit and press CTRL+F and type in Norton... Just be sure not to delete registry keys related to other Norton products you may have installed on your system..

I'm sorry I don't have the link but if you hunt around on Symantecs site there's a utility available to do a clean uninstall of NAV. I have it on my HDD and the file name is "Rnav2003.exe".
