I have just installed Windows XP.I also installed Windows XP about a year ago,i quickly uninstalled it saying to myself, somebody's having a laugh here,it was a nightmare! So this time all that has gone wrong,in one day.is my Memorex twelve maxx cd-rw disappeared, cant reinstall it,my sound card wont install(Yamaha SW1000xg)and it kept shutting down saying my geforce 3 card was causing the system to be unstable?I cured the graphics issue but the one i really want sorted is the cd drive, there is a yellow exclamation mark beside it in 'Device Manager'and no matter how many times i try to reinstall the Win XP driver for it no luck!It always gives a code 39,driver is corrupted or not installed, sometimes when i boot up to the desktop it pops up that new hardware has been found(the cd-rw)but nothing happens? My model of cd-rw is supported by Win XP.I really need to get this sorted as i have a mountain of all my cd,s to reinstall, any help appreciated, thanks!

maybe if you install nero burn rights if you're using nero burning rom with your drive. and be sure that you are logged in under an administrator account while you do this.

I generally like to welcome new members to TechIMO, not have to moderate their first few posts. The original insult was deleted. One more insult either way, and this thread is closed.

As to a solution to your problem, you will likely need to re-install the Nero CD-RW software, plus possibly a ASPI driver package that shipped with the installation CD (usually Adaptec drivers). I rarely work with Nero, so it may bundle the ASPI layer into the application itself.
