DVD-Rom DVD-116 Prob.
Hello, and thank you all whom reply to this..
My system is:
- AMD XP3000+
- Asus A78N-Deluxe
- x2= 512 mb DDR400
- Nvidia Geforce 2 mx400
- Maxtor 5T060H6 (60gig hd. @ 7200 rpm) Primary Master
- DVD-Rom dvd-116 SecondaryMaster
- CD-R/RW RW7060A SecodarySlave
- OS.. Windows XP PRO. (Service pack 1) CD
PROBLEM:
I had bought the mobo, processor & ram just last week.. cause I was upgrading my computer... I had managed to save what i had on my harddrive.. but then due to my own mistake, i had to reformat my hd..
So I made my computer boot off my win. 98 SE cd and I reinstalled windows.. when it had finished I put in the XP update cd and installed that.. Except for soem reason my DVD rom has not been working how it has been before.. I noticed the problem when I had tried installing a game that has worked for me before (Planetside) then i tried with halfhalf.. etc etc..
It had said 'D:\ (or file whichever i attempted) is not a valid Win32 application" when i try running a file from a cd or sometimes even opening a cd itself.. the problem I got from planetside was a "Catastrophic Transfer Error" so i knew something was bad.. but my dvd rom bothered me.. So i tried to fix it..
I tried many things:
- I went into control panel and uninstalled it, then reinstalled it..
- Went into CP uninstalled.. restarted and let it be autodetected..
- Unintalled, turned off comp.. disconnected everythign, reconnected..
- Uninstalled, turned off comp.. changed all jumpers for all devicess to CableSelect
- Disabled all my onboard peripherals.. sound/vid/all usb things.. etc..
- Flash and Updated my bios..
- Updated my firmware
- Updated my Adatepc (or however its spelt) layer..
- Changed all my IDE cables
- Talked to a microsoft techy guy, didnt work
- Talked to a guy from Sony Online entertainment (maker of planetside) didnt help..
So i dont know what left to do
As i said, i had JUST installed win. xp.. I dont have any thing on cept for updated drivers and the OS..
Oh, by the way.. incase it matters.. My dvd rom was displaying itself as a "Virtual CloneDrive" before.. thats why i uninstalled it, I deduced that it was from "Clone-CD" but I wiped my comp. clean, so it shouldnt ahve still been there.. but it displays my dvd as a dvd rom so i got that to work.. jsut cant figure out why it wont run
Thank you, any questions.. please ask
