TVtuner ipaddress

I have a lifeview 3000 tvtuner card.
I recently updated the drivers for it (glad I did, I now have channel preview and working volume control), during that process, I got a new network adapter.

Under network and dialup connections I have 'Microsoft TVMedia' or something similar listed as an adapter, it has an ip address of 4.0.1.0, never receives packages or anything but it's there.

Guess my question is, that, what is it supposed to be and do?
Why did I suddenly get it.

Did you try disabling it and seeing what happens? TV tuners should not have an IP address. Are you sure it's not the version number of the driver?

Eh, yes I'm sure it's not the version number...
This is odd... It has disappeared. The network connection I mean.

If it's 2K/XP, try disabling the "SSDP Discovery Service".

This might keep it from getting an IP and even showing up in Network Neighborhood.

I don't have a digital camera installed. However, it appears to just have done that - it was called 'Microsoft TV/Video connection' and has disappeared since.

Odd design they have

Thanks for that info iivlrick, have to see what ssdp is
