lssas.exe error upon bootup

Ok, this really sucks.
Truth be told, I installed an activation crack that was given to me for office xp to wipe out the 45 time limit, on my friends computer.

It seemed to work, but left office xp products in "locked mode".
We rebooted, and upon bootup, this is what we got:

"When trying to update a password, the return values.....something something something....." then that goes away, and we get lssas.exe error.

Tried rebooting in safe mode, no go. Did this crack do something to the registry for XP perhaps? I'm worried that the crack did something to the HD< erased it, etc....

Anyone familiar with this?

Help would be greatly appreciated!

thx

WHat a nightmare, I was able to run recovery and save my data, but after reboot again, it went back to the same fricking message.

I finally gave up, and ended up getting a new HD, using the new one as the master hd, reinstalled my existing one as slave (not main boot), and was able to save all my data.

I went in to my "now" F:\ drive (old one with data), pulled all of the Outlook Express info (inbox, deleted, etc) and put into the NEW OE folder.

Question: Anyone know how I can get my original Address book/contacts? I'm assuming if I was able to recover all of my messages, that the Address Book with contacts MUST be someplace in the old drive, right?

Any help would be appreciated.

Do a search for *.wab files or you can find it here:

C:\Documents and Settings\YOURUSERNAME\Application Data\Microsoft\Address Book

Then you can import the wab file into your new address book.
