Dell's award-winning service patented

Quote:
Dell announced that they had been granted a patent for the "reboot and see if that fixes it" technical support process, which they pioneered.
I can't believe Microsoft didn't patent this first!

Announcement

That is a good laugh! I'm afraid that they are misrepresenting Dell Support by putting a white lady in the picture there!

Every time I've ever called Dell I talk to a Malaysian or Indian person!

Still joyous, though

So true!

Dell tech support is the absolute worst I've ever dealt with.

Ya but the good thing about it is you can get them to do what you want. As long as you're under warranty you just tell em its broke and they send you a new one (granted you have to send the old one back if its valued at 50+ dollars)

The Indian women are ok to talk to, the Indian men I have a very hard time understanding. I figured it was just the rebate people hiring all the Indian help to add to the hassle of getting a rebate, lol.

They have seriously patented that?

I wish I'd known that I would have patented it years ago, I've been saying that to people for years (long before Dell came around) when they have computer problems.

Very funny... we use the same thing here at our Help Desk.

I've had really good service on my Dell Axim tho'. Now that I think about however, they always do ask if I did a hard reset first... hmmmm

You are absolutely rite, when I called regarding an order I place I was forwarded to about 3 different people all of which seem to have been from India (2 women and 1 man). I found it very difficult to understand the man.

Dell services is really heading to a declining trend.
