Building new system.

Hello,

I currently just got a job to build a computer for someone, the budget is 2,000. (Not including a moniter).

They dont do gaming so they dont need much of a video card but I put a card that they could use should they ever decide to play games (They told me to find the best I could find, Id get the 5900 ultra but Im worried about it being loud.)

These are the current specs:

AMD ATHLON XP 3000 "Barton" 400MHz FSB PROCESSOR CPU- OEM
Asus Motherboard for AMD Athlon XP/Duron Processors, Model# A7N8X
Mushkin 1GB PC3200 Level II Dual Pack (2x512MB)
EVGA GeForce FX5600 128MB ULTRA DDR W/ TV, DVI, VIVO 8X AGP
ENERMAX EG465P-VE(FM). 460W Power supply
Plextor DVD+R/RW IDE Drive Model PX-504A-SW-BL Retail
860PXB Black ATX Medium Tower Front USB
Creative Labs Sound Blaster Live! Dolby Digital 5.1 SB0220 - OEM
WD WESTERN DIGITAL EIDE HARD DRIVE 120GB 7200RPM MODEL # WD1200BB -Caviar OEM
Logitech Cordless MX Duo - RETAIL
Thermaltake VOLCANO 10+

It will be used mostly for work, with maybe some DOOM 2 gaming (but ANY pc will run that so :P).

Anyways the PC listed above runs around 1550 USD.

Now, Does anyone have anything I should add? Anything missing (I believe this is everything but I just want to make sure).

Also, Im not sure about the cooler, does anything have a better cooler that I can use (and thats quiet).

Thanks

- voogru.

get the deluexe board. Plus the onboard sound rocks on that motherboard. I have it and havent had a problem with it since i updated the drivers for it.

Who makes the ram?

That 120 gig hard does that have 2 meg or 8 meg cache?

u should get a 9800 pro instead. It'll beat the crap out of a 5600u.

Just curious as to that 860pxb case.....I'm not finding it but you've picked a good p/s so I'm guessing you investigated the case too.

Also, I'd agree........since you have the room in the budget, go 9800 pro on the video. The computing world is going to become more graphic intensive over the next few years for sure & a big-bucks video card may prove handy down the road!!!

That Volcano 10+ is prolly going to sound like a jet engine =) so I hope sound doesnt bother u (doesnt bother me, but some people I know it does really bad).

Wish I had that kinda money laying around for a new system tho, looks like it shuld be really nice

Yeah, on 2nd look id definately up the graphics card, at LEAST a 9700 Pro, the All-in-Wonder versions are very nice too.
