Wierd hard drive issue
Well last night it was cool enough that I didnt need the air conditioner to run all night in my room.. but at the same time I didnt want my PC to heat it up too much, so I turned it off for the night.
Get home today around 5:30, hit the power button and walk away like normal. Then I got a message where it tried searching the CD-ROMs for a boot disc and then said there was nothing to boot from.
So as I think anyone would do, there was a huge "WTF is going on." Went into the BIOS and it didnt detect the hard drive. The hard drive is an 80GB IBM Deskstar 7200 rpm
I tried wiggling the ide and power cables, restarted still nothing. Then I totaly killed the power, flipped the switch on the back of the power supply and rebooted, and it worked fine, just like normal.
I got into windows and opened up SpeedFan to look at the S.M.A.R.T. reader utility, it shows the performance as a full healthy bar.
Could a hard drive failure be eminent? Or could this just have been some weird glitch in the motherboard? Maybe my guesses are totaly off.. in a way I hope they are since I dont have the moeny right now to replace any hardware
