dsl modem & ps2 port

my friends computer is old and crusty and has no usb ports or a network card. he needs a quick way to hook up his dsl modem to his pc without having to buy a nic card or usb card. can he use one of the little green usb->ps2 adapters that come with keyboards and mice to hook it to his ps2 port? this prolly wont work but i just thought id ask to make sure

I dout it, since PS2 is for mouse and keyboard only.

How old is the motherboard? It may have USB headers that you can plug USB ports into.

You can' t use the PS/2 ports. Those are strictly for mouse and keyboards. The modem wouldn't be recognized. If there are USB headers on the motherboard then you can buy the connector that you would use one of your PCI slot covers on the back. Not the PCI slot itself just the back cover.

If not, then you'll have to purchase either a NIC or a USB card.
