Abit IS7-E Internal Sound controller problem

I have been having a rather annoying problem with the built-in soundcard on my motherboard. I've tried using the drivers I got on my disk and downloading the newer ones off of Realteks site, but I just can't get the microphone to work properly. Ive made sure I had it plugged into the right socket and tested my mic on other machines (where it works) but on my computer I either get no sound being produced at all when I speak or a sort of repeating distortion that gets louder as it repeats (on Teamspeak). I've all but given up, anyone have any ideas?
