Blue screen STOP error.........hellllllllllp!!
Upon booting up WinXP, I get one of the dreaded blue screen errors. The message is as follows, "STOP:0x0000007E (0xc0000005, 0xf8342380, 0xf8991898, 0xf8991598)". I then have to restart and it boots up on the second attempt without any noticable problems.
Now i've looked around,on other help forums, to find out what the error is all about. It appears to be ....."Stop Error 0x0000007F is an Unexpected_Kernel_Mode_Trap"......"Refers to possible Hardware failure, most likely a memory/CPU problem. Either defective memory chips, mismatched memory modules, or even an overheating CPU. Overclocking a CPU past stable operation can also generate this error".
Ok, a while ago i was getting an error message, on startup, from the speech POST reporter. It said "CPU failed due to system overclocking". This message went away after a few reboots and i thought no more of it.
Knowing this, i now think my problem lies with CPU overclocking, despite the fact i've not changed the BIOS settings since new!.
My MOBO is A7N8X with an AMD Athlon 2700+ (2.17GHz) and 512MB DDR(333Mhz). Could someone please tell me what the settings in the BIOS should be for a stable configuration??. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
P.S...if you reply, regarding the BIOS settings, please explain in detail. I'm clueless about most of the settings in there :P. Thanks.
